Persona 4 Golden

Usually with the word JRPG, everyone first remembers the Final Fantasy series. And not sacred. Big, beautiful, dear. But is it fair to call this series the best in the genre? After all, in fact, the genre is huge. Among the JRPG there is a huge number of games not like Equal FF, but sometimes surpassing it with banal ways. One of these games is Persona 4 Golden. Reprinting the game with PlayStation 2. A supplemented, improved and one of the main reasons for the purchase of PlayStation Vita.

Welcome to Inaba

Our story begins with the arrival of the protagonist in the small town of Inaba. A simple guy, a schoolboy whose parents left for work and sent his son to my uncle. Uncle works a detective in a local town and lives with a little daughter. Blinding and getting acquainted with his uncle and his daughter, the hero goes to school almost immediately. School everyday life begins. New dating, new friends. Everything is as usual. However, not everything is so peaceful in a small town.

After a couple of days, a corpse suspended on television antennas is found in the town. The strangest thing is, no traces of violence on the corpse, and a corpse appeared after a foggy night. A rumor also passed through the city about the mysterious “midnight channel” on which, on a rainy night, strange silhouettes of people show. Deciding to check the hearing, our heroes watch this channel and find out that people from the town are shown there. However, they are shown in a strange form. And our hero opens a strange ability to pass through the TV. A few days later and another murder, the heroes begin their investigation, which pours into a huge adventure, with unexpected turns, skeletons in cabinets, and otherwise.

We will leave the rest of the plot details for a personal acquaintance, because you can tell for a very long time. The story in the game turned out to be a huge, with a decent number of actors, many pleasant and tragic and gloomy events. At the same time, the mood in the game is not always gloomy. After some events, there is a short break with everyday life. During this period, you can learn more about the Sopartians, chat or just spend time with them. The characters by the way turned out to be varied. From a simple gopnik to a detective student. I want to recognize the characters closer all the time, because each of them has its own experiences and personal stories. Well, it was not without a few endings. Moreover, several versions of each. Moreover, to get to some options, you will have to try a lot.

Than to do?

Gameplay game to divide into 2 parts: everyday life and dungeons. Everyday life includes schooling at school, meetings with friends, classes in clubs, part -time jobs, etc. At the same time, unlike, for example, Shenmue, everyday life directly affects the gameplay. Studying one or another case, the character pumps several characteristics that reach a new level, allow you to choose new replicas in dialogs or take up new part -time jobs. Meetings with friends, increase the so -called „social ties“. The higher the connection, the closer the hero becomes to the character, the personal story of the latter is moving and an additional bonus is given about which a little later. Of course, of course, even without third -party quests, but here everything is generally without revelations. We get an item, bring the character, get a reward. Some quests come across, which stand out slightly, but there is still nothing insanely original.

The dungeons are combat https://nokyccasinos.org.uk/ locations on which all the battles occur. The dungeons themselves are the internal experiences of the characters and vary depending on the character. But they differ mainly only stylistically. Architecturally, this is unfortunately not the most outstanding dungeons. Most floors are generated procedurally, while from a non -large number of components. Several floors are created in advance, but this was done for plot reasons.

As for the combat system, then there is also no special revelations. If you played one jrpg, then you know how to play about 70% of the Genre games. The same division of magic into 4 elements, plus light and dark, the same 3 levels of each spell, buffs, debafs and so on. However, there are some points distinguishing Persona 4 from the same Final Fantasy. For example, if you hit the enemy at a weak point, then he will not only receive additional damage, but also get off his feet, which will also allow him to apply him more damage, and the character who hit at a weak point will receive an additional point of action, which will allow an additional blow. If you knock all opponents from the feet of all opponents, then you can deliver a joint blow by the whole party during which all opponents will receive a large amount of damage or will be killed at all on the spot.

Well, another important aspect of the game, this is actually the persons themselves. Persons are an essence that lies in the human heart. However, unlike other characters who can use only one person, the main character can use several persons. New persons are extracted, either according to the results of the battle, or when combining. And here we let ourselves go back a little.

As mentioned above, the hero, communicating with friends and other residents of the town, creates social ties with them. This phenomenon not only allows you to advance in the personal story of the character, but also gives a bonus when creating a person of a certain lasso. Suppose if you develop relations with a nurse in a local hospital, you can get an experience bonus when creating a person of the Arcana „Devil“. The higher the social connection, the more experience a person will receive when creating. Each lassa contains a person of a certain orientation. Someone is designed for attacking magic, someone for treatment, someone for physical damage. It will not work to create a very universal person, because the number of spells and techniques is limited by the 8th. T.e. If you get a new spell, but there is no place for it, you either do not take it, or forget any of the previous ones. In this regard, you need to think that it is better to do when creating a new person.

New persons are created from existing. T.e. When winning in battles, you get a person, and from the available ones, you can create one new, more powerful, and give it the inheritance of the spell of the previous. It sounds somewhat complicated, but in fact there is nothing complicated. And the creation of new persons allows you to come up with new tactics in battles.

Well, finally, pumping. Unlike other JRPG, where, when gaining experience, the character himself is pumped, not only he is pumped here, but also the person herself. At the same time, the level of persons directly affects the character’s usefulness in battle. For example, if a person focuses on magic, then the magical damage from the character’s attacks will be tangibly stronger. If physical, then vice versa. And of course, persons of certain Arkan, receive immunity and vulnerability to certain magical and physical attacks. The character himself when pumping receives only an increase in the amount of health and magic.

The most important and pleasant that is in the fighting is the absence, excuse me, a quarrel. The main problem of Jrpg as a genre is not the appearance of the characters or their characters, and not the plot. The main problem is that at a certain moment there is a need to pump, and for a rather long time. Otherwise it will be very difficult, or you have to pick one boss for 3 days. Persona 4 The same stereotype breaks, and at the “normal” level of complexity, it is enough to just study the locations completely, to kill opponents who come to the arm, and the experience dropped from them will be enough to move in the plot without unnecessary gestures.

It may seem to someone a strong simplification and arcadity, but let’s agree, not everyone is ready to spend 10 hours of real life in order to accumulate a dozen levels and go through the very moment that prevents you from moving on. Persona 4 also offers a standard, but honed and pleasant gameplay that does not require a crazy amount of time.

They meet on clothes

Now the turn has come to the appearance and sound accompaniment. Since Persona 4 Golden is a reprint of the version with PS2, of course, graphic revelations should not be waiting. However, for a pocket console, the level of graphics is quite decent and gives out decent effects, and normal textures and models, and a stable FPS. Instead of CGI videos, anime settings are used, but they are performed qualitatively, do not last very long (which is controversial for some players) and generally organically look in the game itself. Of course, looking at the reprint of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 for PS vita, one might say, it could be done better, but in general it is not required. The game looks completely beautiful, quickly loads, does not sag anywhere, does not give out any bugs and behaves very well. Plus Persona 4 did not Square Enix, which have millions of dollars for such things, which should also be taken into account.

Musical accompaniment simply suggests itself in the player. Music in battles of course closer to the middle begins to come a little, but nevertheless it does not get out. With everyday events, pleasant vocals are heard, with dramatic or somewhat intimate moments, beautiful keyboards play, and optencing even makes itself revise with each launch of the game. The composer, Shoji Meguro, did a really decent job and reached the main thing: the melodies are remembered and I want to listen to them.

The only thing you can reproach the sound component is the inability to turn on Japanese voice acting. Usually when Jrpg is voiced into English, it comes out … debatable. At best, the ear does not cut, but still the Japanese have in such games with emotions somehow brighter. However, here the English voice acting is actually far from terrible. Moreover, the farther to the forest, the more you like. It would simply be nice to be able to switch voice acting for those who are important.

Oh yes, and there is Troy Baker.

What awaits us?

You can talk about the game for a very long time. It is mixed in it so much that it is impossible to play it to it. With each launch of the game, you do not have the question “Yes, when you end?“. I want to return to the game over and over again. She is beautiful, with beautiful music, pleasant characters, an intriguing plot, balanced battles, a bunch of classes. For all the chamber of history, Persona 4 Golden manages to capture much more than many, more large -scale games of the genre. And this is already worthy of praise. Many aspects remained outside the review, from fishing and gardening, to the dates with local girls, who sometimes cause attacks of tenderness. Plus Golden Edition for PS Vita, complemented by the content of 10 hours. New dungeons, new epilogues and endings.

For those who already have a pocket Sony console, the game is required to purchase. Even if you don’t like the genre, give the game a chance, she will find what to offer you. For the same pocket console, I think this game is a reason to think about whether it is worth buying it.
